How finish level affects the comparison

The model applies a Budget factor of 0.82, Standard at 1.00, and Premium at 1.34. Finish selection affects tile, cabinetry, fixtures, glass, hardware, and installation complexity; it does not describe workmanship quality. Use Budget for stock selections and limited customization, Standard for durable midrange products, and Premium for custom or specification-heavy work.

Five budget components to compare

  1. Professional laborTrade time, supervision, installation complexity, and local wages.
  2. Materials and fixturesTile, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, glass, lighting, and installation products.
  3. Demolition and disposalProtection, removal, hauling, disposal, and preparation for new work.
  4. Permit allowanceA planning allowance only; official fees and required reviews vary by jurisdiction and scope.
  5. ContingencyA reserve for ordinary planning uncertainty, not unlimited concealed damage.
